About us

The property at 50 Glasgow Road has traded as a Newsagents since the early 1950’s, when Jimmy Cowden owned the business. Mr and Mrs Jackson took over in the late 1980’s and it has been in our ownership since March 1990. Next year we look forward to celebrating our 30th year.

There were only four newspaper boys back then, predominately delivering to Paisley’s East End. There are now seventy-plus news deliverers employed delivering in most areas of Paisley, Brookfield and Bridge of Weir. 

Over the years we have given a start to over two thousand young people and it’s a pleasure to see so many of them move on to have fantastic careers.

Despite the many changes and challenges within the industry, we still deliver almost forty thousand newspapers and magazines to homes and businesses every month.

Jimmy Cowden set out to be part of the community all those years ago, and it is a tradition that we remain truly committed to. We’re pleased to support many of the organisations that enhance the opportunities available, including, sporting, educational, religious and cultural.
